Sober, Stay
Alive
is an alcohol awareness
campaign conducted by the Coalition for local prom
attendants. Progressing into the 7th year of this
campaign, this event has increased in youth participation
by 25 percent. The Coalition collaborates with local
businesses in order to receive donations as prizes for
prom attendants who has their Stay Safe Card at the Prom
Breakfast.
We
Card
is a national
tobacco training and education program. Retailers are taught
how to prevent the sale of tobacco to minors, how to spot fake
ID, and to follow state laws and federal regulations.
Partnering with this initiative will also be the Regional
Prevention Center and the District Health Department Tobacco
Prevention Coordinator.
Project
Alert
is a
researched-based drug prevention program that is implemented in
7th and 8th grades. The primary goal for Project Alert is to
delay the onset of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs (ATOD) use
and increase peer resistance skills.
All
Stars
is a SAMHSA model
program for students 11-14 years old. The program focuses on
five topics important to preventing high risk behaviors: (1)
developing positive ideals that do not fit with high risk
behaviors; (2) creating a belief in conventional norms; (3)
building strong personal commitments; (4) bonding with school,
prosocial institutions and family and (5) increasing positive
parental attentiveness.
Prime for
Life Under 21
is a science
based curriculum that targets at risk youth under 18. The
primary goal of the program is ATOD abuse intervention through
small group presentations and student workbooks.
Second
Step
is a social skill
4th through 8th grades curriculum that addresses the identified
risk factors of anti-social behavior, promote social-emotional
learning and reduce impulsive and aggressive behavior. Children
learn how to respond empathetically to others, practice skill
steps for calming down, reduce anger and problem
solving.
TEG
is a
research-based program that will show you how to effectively
deal with students who violate a school's tobacco policy. It
encourages teens to adopt healthier lifestyles, move closer to
quitting and enroll in a voluntary cessation
program.
TAP
provides students
with the options, resources, education, motivation and support
to stop using tobacco.
Guiding
Good Choices
is a workshop for
parents and guardians of school age youth in 4th through 7th
grades. The primary goal of the program is to help parents and
guardians create and sustain healthy family management skills
and teaches parents to identify risk factors associated with
teenage drug abuse and to practice skills, which promote family
bonding and reduce those risks.
