Meeting Minutes

Rhonda Parker, co-chair,
called the Town Hall Meeting and annual membership meeting to order. Minutes from the February meeting were available for members to read and
review, motion to dispense with reading of the minutes was made by Paul Lacey and seconded by Sue Crabtree .
Fifty-five members and guests were present.
- March was the annual
membership drive therefore a special meal was catered by Smoke Pit for members and
guests.
- Incentives for those
members inviting and bringing a guest to the meeting were awarded by Crissy
Caldwell.
- Karen reminded everyone
that April is Alcohol Awareness Month and the Town Hall Meeting was being held to raise consciousness of
alcohol related issues in our community.
- Karen began the Town
Hall Meeting by introducing the video, “This Place”.
- Three local youth from
Taylor County High School drug free club introduced the first guest speaker, Lynn Kearney.
They gave testimonies of how his leadership and positive influence have helped them during their high
school career. Lynn spoke to the group about how alcohol use by other individuals had affected his
life and that of this family.
- Karen introduced the
second speaker of the Town Hall Meeting, Diann Paxton of Green County. Diann also spoke to members and
guests on her son’s use of alcohol and other drugs and how that use has impacted her
family.
- Meeting was adjourned at
1:00 p.m. and the next meeting will be April 16th at
Taylor Regional Hospital.
Mission
Statement
To mobilize and empower all citizens of Taylor County to address alcohol, tobacco and other drug use and abuse
and violence issues in their communities. To raise public awareness by
making all citizens equal in prevention.
