Meeting Minutes

Karen Hayes,
co-chair, called the meeting to order. Minutes from the January meeting were read and
reviewed. Becky Nash made a motion to accept and Mayor Allen seconded the motion.
There were twenty-six members present.
- Karen Hayes
made the announcement that Michelle Barnard had given her resignation, and introduced Lindsey Atwood as the new
Taylor County Site Coordinator.
- Erin Estes and
Lindsey Atwood gave a brief overview of CADCA Conference, workshops that were offered, and information
obtained. Three staff attended this conference.
- Crissy
Caldwell elaborated on the Prescription Drug Abuse Workshop; “The Different Faces of Substance Abuse” that
staff members and Becky Nash attended January 26-27 in Lexington, KY.
- Crissy Caldwell discussed Truth or Consequences and gave the informational meeting date
for volunteers as February 26th from 11:30-1 at Creekside and actual event date as March
11th at TCHS. There will be approximately 205 students
attending. Details on times and sessions will be established
accordingly.
- Karen reminded
members of monthly meeting dates for community partner agencies.
- Three youth
conferences are currently being offered to students at Taylor and Campbellsville
Schools.

- “Helping Overcome Tobacco” (HOT) conference, originally scheduled for February, has been postponed
until Fall.
- A
Youth Leadership Symposium is also being offered to students and will be held June 28-29 in
Frankfort.
- “Catalyst of Hope”, another youth leadership workshop will be held in Owen Co. on Saturday, March
13. Students from Taylor County Middle School will be
attending.
- “Save a Life
Tour”, an alcohol awareness event, will be held at CHS on March 18th, for CHS juniors and seniors
and TCHS seniors. A video was shown to coalition members to give an overview of this
event.
- Karen updated
members on the possibility of a split Project Graduation due to the number of snow days each district has
had. It was asked that members vote on this decision. Karen Noe
made a motion to accept the split of Project Graduation and Donna Gaddis seconded the
motion.
- The Coalition
applied for the KSP grant and the community was awarded approximately $31,000.00. Funds
will be used to hold saturation and safety check points during high traffic youth events in addition to a court
monitoring program.
- Crissy
reported that the staff will be attending a required GRAA technical assistance training in Chicago, IL April
15-18th.
- Crissy asked
for coalition member’s recommendation for March meeting to include Town Hall Meeting along with our annual
membership drive. Jennifer Caulk made a motion to accept and Heather Barnes seconded
the motion.
- Meeting was
adjourned at 1:00 p.m. and next meeting will be March 19.

To mobilize and empower all citizens of
Taylor County to address alcohol, tobacco and other drug use and abuse and violence issues in their
communities. To raise public awareness by making all citizens equal in
prevention.
