The Stay Safe Stay Sober Stay
Alive campaign for prom attendants was held May
10th for CHS and will be
held May 17 for TCHS. Karen Hayes attended both prom breakfasts
to pass out prizes.
The Town Hall meeting with
KASPER was held May 1 at Taylor County Extension Office. Over
50 participants including nurses, counselors, dentists and
medical professionals attended the event.
The Coalition purchased a
booth for the Taylor Regional Hospital Health Fair April 19th.
Karen worked the booth, giving out information to parents and
medical professionals. She also collected about 100 adult
surveys.
Adult Community Survey
Evaluation- Dr. Eric Bruns, a professor at CU, is evaluating
the results from approximately 200 adult surveys. The results
will be shared when the information is tallied.
Network Day date is changed to
June 11. Anyone interested in attending this one day retreat at
Lure Lodge, please see Karen , Rhonda or Cathy.
SPF SIG Grant update- The
Coalition was recently awarded $60,000.00 for prescription drug
diversion and prevention. This is the second and last pot of
money from SPF SIG. The RPC has worked out a plan to extend the
time allowed for spending the money. Originally, it was going
to have to be spent by September 3 0. Now, we get the full year
to spend the money. Cathy also noted that some of the other
counties are not going to be able to spend their allotted SPF
SIG money, and that we will have a chance to spend their money
if they don’t utilize it. There will almost definitely be extra
money.
KY-ASAP Grant submitted. We
have not heard anything from KY-ASAP funding yet.
Champions Grant RFP is not
available yet.
Safe and Drug Free Schools
Grant to Reduce Alcohol Abuse. We should hear something by June
3 0 about this 3 3 6,000 grant.

Coalition Booth - It was suggested to pass out information
during the July 4th celebration by setting up a booth downtown.
Living Grace Church is planning to set up a Family Fun Zone
with many activities for 3 -1 3 years of age. Could we give
drug free clubs donations for helping work a booth?
